When you mention golf in the Czech Republic, Prague's PGA National Oaks Prague, Albatross GolfResort and Panorama Golf Resort often come to mind. However, there's a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. We witnessed the union of Prosper Golf Resort and Golf & Ski Resort Ostravice into a single golf destination. This transformation claims the title of the largest golf resort in Central Europe. Situated in North Moravia, a region renowned for its coal mining and steel production, the resort stands as a testament to the region's reinvention, with golf courses becoming one of its valuable assets.

During our visit to Ropice Golf Resort, we encountered less-than-ideal weather conditions, with snow and rain falling occasionally. Despite this, it was impressive that the course remained open. Despite the challenging weather, it became clear right away that this was a hidden gem, likely the highlight of our golfing experience in North Moravia. Designed by Austrian architect Hans Georg Erhardt, the course boasts a recent addition of another 9-hole loop, expanding it to a 27-hole facility. The layout is characterized by its openness and undulating terrain. It's interesting that the 9th hole of the Ocelová loop features two greens, providing flexibility for tournament play.

April can be unpredictable here due to the higher altitude of North Moravia and the Beskydy Mountains. As we experienced firsthand, it's not uncommon to encounter rain or even snow. However, just the week before our visit, the weather was sunny, reaching 20 degrees Celsius. For more reliable conditions, the ideal time to visit is from late May to mid-September.

There are various travel options for visiting the area. Ostrava is conveniently situated along a major Czech motorway that connects Czechia with Poland, Slovakia, and Austria. If you're arriving by air, Ostrava Airport is the most convenient choice, although not all major airlines service this airport. Alternatively, Krakow and Katowice international airports, both located in Poland, are fairly nearby and are being served by many airlines. Driving from Krakow to Ostrava takes approximately one and a half hours, Katowice is about an hour.
